Your next plane journey

I prefer to sit in the aisle (I’m 6’3″) or watch movies through a flight, but we all like to gaze out the window of an aeroplane and wonder at the outside sky, lights, possiblities, achievements and failures… the video above is a lovely time-pase photography piece by James Leng of a trip coming in to San Francisco from the Midwest using a Nikon D300. It’s the lights glowing through the clouds that make this a particularly eerie and magical piece of footage.

Technique: 1600iso; beginning – 1 (30sec) exposure / 45secs, end – 1 (4sec) exposure / 10 secs; total elapsed time: around 3 hours?
