Rapha x Timothy Everest

Cycling’s big at the moment, and rightly so. You can check our bike section on TheScrapBook to see how passionate we are about it, aesthetically as much as practically. It is one of the best forms of transport and exercise in a recession, and furthermore, the raw, pure, unfiltered fixed gear cycling is perfect for Millenials.

What’s less perfect for Millenials (purely due to budget) is this bespoke Timothy Everest suit made with Rapha. Not only is a lovely, classic cut, but the hidden details make it the kit of choice for ascerning business folk wanting to jump on the fixie wagon. I did see this in GQ after all.

Available in three beautiful patterns, the ensemble consists of a button-down jacket, a vest and either plus-fours or full length trousers (with an integrated button to hold the rolled cuffs while riding). But it’s the jacket that kills it: The lower parts of the jacket can be fastened to the pockets so they don’t flap about while pedaling. The buttons close high, keeping the fit snug when leaning over the bars, but it also allows for a continuous line when the collar is flipped and buttoned.

In the back, extra fabric has been added to key stress points around the armpits and upper spine so there’s plenty of room for the coat to expand when the wearer hunches over the handlebars. The coat sleeves are cuffed and can be turned down to make up for the extra arm length of a riding posture.

Oh, and the whole thing’s been made in a specially developed proprietary blend of wool, the fibers of which have been treated with a nanotechnology for incredible resistance to water.

Anyone got $3,000 to spare? enquiries@rapha.cc
