This latest Philips carousel commercial for the “Cinema 21:9 LCD TV” is not a new idea as we’re proving, but these executions are so stunningly hypnotic when done well. To be fair, it’s not really a commercial, so much as a short stort…

The execution was filmed for Philips by Adam Berg (top), and the unfolding story and twist is what really warrants repeat viewing. Go to the dedicated site to see the proper film and further in-depth detail about the TV etc (just like you can for the Halo film).

What I love about the Halo 3 one (middle) is that it was a full scale model of the battle that had to be made before they could film it. That sort of back story really adds to the fans’ interest and passion, giving them something to play with and “own”. The Halo 3 “Believe” site supporting it allows you to delve deeper into the story too.

The third execution we’ve put up here is an ad that my old agency, WCRS made for Sky HD – and what’s great about this is the almost imperceptible movements that the actors make as they hold their positions, adding intrigue to the film (bottom). There’s not much depth to it, but the “is it real” or “how did they film it” has caused enough discussion and interest.
