Ruby hipped me to some stuff about Kids. She did a little focus group too around Brands and music.

in SIX MINUTES – the kids named 44 brands they saw as being part of the whole music thing, either in a good or an appropriating way…

Some good chatchat about Fresher’s Week and comfort brands for the kids:

NUS estimated annual cost of being a student: £13, 626 (£15, 769 in London)
Maximum Student Loan: £4,625 (£6,475 in London)
Maximum maintenance loan: £2,835
Number of tuition fees loans taken out: 226,000
Number of maintenance loans taken out: 727,000
Proportion of students who qualify for the full, means tested grant: One third
Percentage of students living at home: 22%
Average debt on graduation: £12,000
Average weekly amount by which students underestimate outgoings: £20 (not bad, I say, but then do the math)
Average graduate earning salary: £24,000
Percentage of medical students who owe more than £30,000: 20%
Percentage of students ‘extremely worried’ about debt: 13%
Proportion of young people the government wants attending university by 2010: Half
She also links to an article in The Times and Barnardo’s that explores how “most adults think children are feral and dangerous”. Good grief.
