Fucking Hell – Chapman Brothers Return

One of my favourite of the YBAs (Young British Artists) had always been the Chapman Brothers. Their work “Hell” was an astounding, horrific and incredible piece of sculpture – 9 fishtanks arranged in a swastica and giving vignettes of Hell – but it was destroyed in a fire four years ago, and left me thinking we’d never be able to see the work again.

Thankfully (if it’s not perverse to say that), at their new show at Hoxton’s White Cube Gallery, they have unveiled “Fucking Hell” – a recreation of the original work, rising from the ashes one might say, with some amends that suit the new show’s title: “If Hitler Had Been A Hippy How Happy We Would Be”
