Emily Allchurch

Emily Allchurch subtly and sensitively updates old Master Paintings from the likes of Turner, Whistler, Della Francesca, and gives us an impression of perhaps not only the moment after the scene we know more famously has passed, but also that same scene were it to have taken place today. Graffiti, litter, building works and CCTV cameras are scattered amongst familiar landscapes that are in fact made from digitally manipulated reconstructions using less familiar London landmarks. Check out her beautiful photography, especially the London, Paris and Rome versions of maddenning, claustrophobic 18th Century imagined prisons!
