Fantastic Mr Fox

Another interesting childhood tale being made into a film (well, stop motion animation). Fantastic Mr Fox is directed by Wes Anderson (Tenenbaum’s, Life Acquatic etc) and stars off-beat staples such as Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, but is headed up by Anderson newcomers George Clooney as Mr Fox, and Meryl Streep as Mrs Fox. [...]

Pulp Art Book

How incredibly awesome are these photographs? Apparently the story is that the photographer, Neil Krug (Ladytron, Boards of Canada, Range Life Records), collaborated with supermodel Joni Harbeck and due to overwhelming demand on Flickr they’ve decided to publish a volume of over 200 images as a book. You can buy them as prints on the site. [...]

Where the Wild Things Are

Directed by Spike Jonze, starring Forest Whitaker and James Gandolfini, and co-written by Dave Eggers, the release of classic children’s book “Where The Wild Things Are” as a film could be perfectly timed to tap into the feelings of nostalgia, family, belonging and childhood that the recession seems to be demanding. Bibliodyssey

Bibliodyssey is a great resource for images from rare books. For me though, it functions as a source of inspiration – you never know what’s going to be showcased – skeletons, astronomy, flowers, monsters, maps, architecture… check it out..

Economic Downturn Has Upside?

Interesting thought piece about the recession and how Wall Street’s brain drain over the past 50 years since women’s rights were improved and the lucrative financial industry encouraged people not to enter the teaching profession may now be over. As a result of the lay-offs from the financial world, and indeed the re-assessment that current [...]

I read a lot of shit books over the holiday (no link, cos that’d be unfair) but I read two great ones that I highly recommend. The first is Herd: How to Change Mass Behaviour by Harnessing Our True Nature, by Mark Earls. I can genuinely say I’ve not read a business / marketing book [...]
